As a part of his cross-Canada tour, Chali brings his live band to the Pawn Shop on Friday, September 17. Joining Chali on the bill will be Winnipeg’s The Lytics & Edmonton’s DJ Twist.

Foundation Concerts is proud to present legendary and influential hard rock outfit, HELMET, as they return to Edmonton for their first-ever headline show, September 18th at the Starlite Room. Promoting their seventh studio album, Seeing Eye Dog (Work Song), Helmet was last in the Edmonton-area supporting Guns N’ Roses.
Hayes Carll

Hayes Carll returns to Edmonton, Thursday, September 23rd, to deliver his songs born of baptism-by-fire experiences, world-weary observations and sharp wit. While his songs draw from Texas songwriting heroes such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Carll has managed to put a stamp on his music that is truly his own.

Foundation Concerts is pleased to present Blitzen Trapper as they return to Alberta this September, making two stops in Calgary and Edmonton. The group previously toured through the province supporting Pavement frontman, Stephen Malkmus, in 2008. The lo-fi alternative folk rockers will be playing Calgary’s Republik on September 23rd and Edmonton’s Starlite Room on September 24th. Both dates are in support of their 2010 Sub Pop release, Destoyer of the Void.
Cuff The Duke

Having spent several years carving their teeth on the road with the likes of The Sadies, Sloan, Hayden, The Weakerthans, Calexico and Nick Cave, Toronto’s Cuff the Duke are poised to make the jump from indie-scene-darlings to bona-fide Canadian music icons. Their new album, Way Down Here was co-produced by Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor at his beautiful barn studio in rural Ontario and features the band’s most mature, captivating and impressive collection of songs to date.
K'Naan
September 28 in Edmonton at Edmonton Event Centre
Since the release of “Waving Flag”, K’naan has been unstoppable. A remixed version of the single has been chosen as the Coca-Cola anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, to be held in South Africa, while during the Vancouver Olympics 50 Canadian artists joined K’naan under the collaboration name “Young Artists for Haiti” to produce a charity version of the song. In 2010 alone, he has won Juno Awards for Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, toured with Lenny Kravitz and has hit #1 in music charts around the world.
Land of Talk

The road has become Montreal-based band Land of Talk’s second home since the release of their acclaimed debut EP, Applause Cheer Boo Hiss in 2006. Foundation Concerts is happy to welcome the band back to two of their many “second homes,” September 29th and 30th, at Edmonton’s Starlite Room and Calgary’s Dickens’ Pub, respectively. The band is touring in support of their sophomore full-length release, Cloak & Cipher (Secret City), out August 24th. Joining Land of Talk on both dates is Montreal’s Suuns.

Japandroids return to Edmonton, Friday, October 1st after a summer playing some of the worlds’ most prestigious and buzz-worthy festivals, including Bonnaroo, Sasquatch and Primavera Sound. The Vancouver-based duo are spending 2010 on the road touring in support of a series of 7” recordings released throughout 2010, which come in lieu of a full-length follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut full-length album, Post-Nothing.

Montreal’s Mark Sultan/BBQ is comin’ back to Edmonton. A long-time fixture in the garage-rock scene, he is best known as the ʻBBQʼ half of The King Khan & BBQ Show. He’s helped spearhead the modern garage-rock and doo-wop movement with further projects like The Almighty Defenders, Les Sexareenos and Mind Controls. Bringing his true original sound to Edmonton’s Pawn Shop on Monday, October 4th, Mark Sultan is touring in support of his 2010 album $ (Last Gang Records).

Foundation Concerts presents two of Canada’s brightest indie-pop/rock forces, Library Voices and Paper Lions, as they align this October 22nd in Edmonton as part of a cross-Canada co-headline tour. Paper Lions will hold down headline duties in the East and Library Voices will headline on the Western leg of the tour. Vancouver’s Bend Sinister will join them on the bill.
The Rural Alberta Advantage
October 29 in Edmonton at Myer Horowitz Theatre
The Rural Albera Advantage will be embarking on a nine-date tour of Canada’s West Coast, including two dates presented by Foundation Concerts in Winnipeg & Edmonton. The tour comes on the tail-end of a summer of heavy recording for the band. Nils, Amy and Paul have been hard at work over the summer with producer Roger Leavens (Woodhands) at Boombox Sound in Toronto on their as-yet-untitled follow-up album slated for a Canadian release in early 2011 on Paper Bag Records.
The inspiring DIY success story of the Rural Alberta Advantage continues to gain momentum, mainly due to the band’s extensive time spent touring and getting the ultimate seal of approval from Pitchfork (“This band could be huge”) and a “breaking out” feature artist in Spin Magazine. More glowing press reviews and sold-out club dates in major cities throughout the United States and Canada have followed, and the trio now find themselves signed to indie giant Saddle Creek Records (Bright Eyes). Hometowns was properly released on Saddle Creek in July 2009, and stellar reviews from influential critics and new fans alike are securing the album’s place on many 2009 “best-of” lists including Pitchfork, iTunes Canada, Spin Magazine and NME.
The RAA spent the past winter on the road, hitting a sold out headlining tour across Canada, a performance at the Vancouver Olympics, a relentless schedule of 11 shows over the four days of SXSW in Austin, and recently returned from their first European tour. The Rural Alberta Advantage capped off the spring with the honour of winning this year’s Galaxie Rising Star Award at Canadian Music Week. Not much for taking a break, the band showcased some new songs with key sets at this summer’s Ottawa Bluesfest and Winnipeg Folk Festival.

In the heavy metal community many writers toss around the monikers “legend” and “genre defying” to describe many bands, but these terms have never been more accurate if they are referring to NEVERMORE, who have perfectly carved out their own unique niche over the past 15 years of dominance. One always says that you can’t rush greatness or perfection, and this couldn’t be truer in the case of NEVERMORE, who last released the highly acclaimed This Godless Endeavor in 2005. The Seattle quartet have triumphantly returned with the much-anticipated new full-length release, The Obsidian Conspiracy, which is what could be their most impressive offering of their illustrious, decade plus, heralded career.
